Dear Forum please assist me in my question
My husband is looking to gain a loan to buy a bike. He has temporary residency status and has been in the UK for over a year.
He has a job but only been there 2 weeks. Do you know what type of loan he could gain? He banks with Natwest and Nationwide.
thank you for any assistance

Hi
Very little I'm afraid. If he works for the company they may participate in the cycle to work scheme (If this is indeed what he is looking for). Otherwise, if you are a UK citizen with good credit, can't you get the loan?0 -
Until he has resided in the UK for 3 years and intends to stay permanently, he will be unlikely to be offered any credit.0
-
Why on earth do you need a loan to buy a bike? A quick look at Free Ads or similar will show loads of bikes for £50 or less that will do the job until your husband has saved the cash to buy something better.0

thank you for your responses. He's on a spouse visa which will be extended next year to go for indefinite leave to remain.
He already has a contract with Vodafone
He wants to buy a motorbike not just an ordinary bike so sorry for the typo that gives rise to suspicion
so he has to be here for over 3 years before he'll gain credit? i'm unsure how he's managed to gain the Vodafone contract for 24 months
thanks for any assistance and the swift replies they are greatly appreciated0 -
Being in a job for 2 weeks might also be an issue too.0

There's a big difference between being given a mobile phone contract and a lender handing their cash to him. He has no credit history, so nothing for the lender to judge the likelihood of him paying back on.0 -
This time of year, as winter looms, the prices of used bikes fall and there are some bargains to be had. Although you do not say what amount he is looking to spend.0
-
maybe wait a bit longer because people will look at the '2 weeks job' fact and class him as unstable0

unless he borrow the money from family member, working just two week will strongly count against him.Aqua Advance £ 9500 ( Settled ) | BC Platinum Card 25/25 £10500 | 24 studio £1950 | SimplyBe £1800 | Nationwide Flexplus A/C OD £800| Meaningless Noddles score= 3/50
