Hi all,
Does anyone have a really scrummy chocolate cake recipe? I use the trusted Be-ro recipe at the moment and it is fine but I would love to try another.
Also does anyone have a recipe for a cheese and onion tart? I buy these at the moment but would love to make my own to freeze.
Thanks on advance
Chala

Hi Rossy,
There are lots of chocolate cake recipes on this thread:
Chocolate cake tips and recipes please!
We have lots of recipes for cheese and onion pie...I'm not sure if that's the same as cheese and onion tart? If it is, let me know and I'll post some links.

Hi, rossy! I make a French onion Quiche - is that what you're after? I take some onions, peel, halve, and slice thinly. Cook in some olive oil and a spoonful of sugar. Cook long and slow until most of the moisture is gone, and they caramelise. Put into a baked pastry case, add enough egg to cover, top with grated mature cheddar, bake at gas 5 until set.
Chocolate yogurt cake is rather nice - will find a recipe for you........

This sounds great, Penny. I'll sort out electric equivalent of gas 5, but what sort of time until set? Half-hourish? Just so I've got some idea when to check, and don't have to watch it for the whole cooking time:DYou never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
Yes, about 30 mins should do it. I tend to use a high proportion of onion to egg, so doesn't take as long as other tarts.
If you like it, the onion mix is also a base for French onion soup - add plenty of garlic with the onions, then once they're caramelsied add dark stock (I like beef or game) simmer for a further hour, and serve with slices of baguette with melted cheese on, floated in it.
