Brown paper and a warmish iron (not steam!). Just keep putting a clean bit of paper over it & ironing the top until the paper is almost wax-free.

Only drawback is that it can flatten your carpet :o
  • Cover it with brown paper and iron over it (no steam) This will melt the majority and the paper blots some, the rest you should get by dabbing with a white cloth. Repeat. That should get 95% up

ETA Floss beat me to it. Great minds....

Kitchen paper works just as well as brown paper!

Is it soy wax or paraffin wax?

If it's soy, it will wash out with warm soapy water.

use the iron on a VERY low temp especially if the carpet has any manmade elements: I used what i thought was a low temp (ie it said low for delicate fabrics) with brown paper and the carpet fibres melted and fused which it is not possible to fix so the area looks worse than ever!
