  • It would be really nice with Crunchy Nut. Well done.
  • I know I'm late to the party but Apple Cornflake Crunch is my favourite dessert (we had it on Christmas Day). This is how to make it as is used to be served at school dinners. The quantities are very forgiving - just base it on how big your casserole dish is.

Make stewed apple and put it in a layer in your casserole dish. Then prepare the cornflake topping. Melt two large knobs of butter with 3 tablespoons of golden syrup and boil for about 30 seconds. Stir in as many cornflakes as you need to fill your casserole dish - make sure the cornflakes are nice and gooey rather than dry (add more syrup and butter if necessary). Add the syrupy cornflakes in a layer on top of the apple - fill to the top of the dish.

Then bake for about 15 minutes in a medium oven - keep an eye on it so it doesn't burn. Serve with custard.

This is the food of heaven.
