We are basically encouraging employers to provide low paid, part time jobs through the tax system.
What on earth is the point in that ?
Reduces the unemployment figures. Good for the statistics."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

Growth in the business, professional and support services sector apparently.0 -

Maybe, but I'm just asking a question. I don't feel it warrants an attack?
Yes, but growth based on what?Growth in the business, professional and support services sector apparently.
Theres something else growing at what some in the finance industry suggest is "an alarming rate".0 -

So was I.:)Graham_Devon wrote: »...Yes, but growth based on what?..
Based on the fact that companies in the business, professional and support services sector are currently selling more services than they were before I imagine.Graham_Devon wrote: »...Theres something else growing at what some in the finance industry suggest is "an alarming rate".
I'm intrigued. What is it do you think it is that's going on?0 -

The world has changed since the early 90's. If the UK is to compete globally then it has to be competitive. As a consequence unskilled / low skilled work won't pay well. Growing number of manufacturers for example are looking to return home from overseas. As productions delays and increasing costs have outweighed any cost advantage from having factories overseas. Individuals themselves will have to take responsibility for learning skills, trades etc in order to obtain a better standard of living. The Nanny state doesn't work in this regard.0 -

Yes it's a very good thing. Even the most bearish of commentators have grudgingly admitted that there is a recovery happening. From what I see in the financial press the recovery is being seen as sustained and broad based.Graham_Devon wrote: »Theres something else growing at what some in the finance industry suggest is "an alarming rate".
I assume you're eluding to your 'bubble' in house prices. If you think the recovery is built only on HPI then the evidence isn't supportive. Probably the increase in house prices is due to the recovering economy highlighting the distinct lack of supply.0 -

Now that you mention it, there has actual be an increase in equality (as measured by the Gini coefficient) in the UK since 2010. In fact, the last time I looked the increase in equality was sufficient to reverse all the increase in inequality that occurred under the last Labour administration.0 -
