Hi.
I hope someone can help me please.
My two sons both have Xbox 360's and have done for numerous years. Younger son's xbox has rrod a few days ago and is completely and utterly dead (weirdly it has rrod about 5 times but always worked again after an hour or so!). Eldest son's xbox's disc tray is barely functioning. It works sporadically and then only if you have bashed hell out the top of the console to get it to read the disc..
Anyway, the result of this is the two boys have both chipped in to get a new one to share (shopto deal on hukd) They have opted to share one as they will be saving for the next gen consoles from birthday/xmas money etc but don't want to be without in the meantime and also have friends who are not going to be upgrading anytime soon, so they still want the option to play online with those friends.
Now to my query... How do I get the remainder or their gold subscriptions onto the new console? Also in relation to the games they have bought and downloaded from the microsoft store, are they able to 'redownload' them onto the new console..will it be on record that they have already bought those particular games (like it is on the PS3).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

They simply need to enter their gamertag details on the new Xbox (usually e-mail address and password), the gamertag will then be downloaded to the new Xbox and they will get their online access through any existing gold subscription.
Any games they've bought previously will be attached to their Gamertag so they'll be able to download them again however they will only be able to play the content when they're signed in online. To make the games fully available they need to transfer the license rom the old Xbox which is detailed here:
http://support.xbox.com/en-GB/xbox-live/marketplace-and-purchasing/download-content?icid=furl_drm#19b44f874c804ec885025615333920f6
It's a simple procedure but it should be done first as the license is part of the download, so if they download say a 1.4GB game before transferring the license they'll only be able to play it while signed in. Once the license is transferred, it won't take effect until they download the game again which is a bit annoying but that's the way it works. Also if they transfer the games from the old console using a USB stick, it also keeps the license from the old console so they'll either have to live with the signed in restriction or redownload the content.

Oh brilliant, thank you.
I was hoping it would be simple but was having visions of it being a nightmare!
