Does this course sound any good?

I have been thinking about doing a course of some sort to get more skills and improve my chances of getting a better job. I am looking for office/admin.

I've noticed a lot of job adverts mention that they like you to have knowledge of Sage Line 50 (I've never used it before).

I got an email from Reed advertising course and there's this course which costs £59 for a limited time.

It's distance learning, which might suit me better.

What do you all think?

Sage 50 is an accounts system

You are looking for accounts work?

Not at as such but quite a few jobs that are just Admin that I've wanted to apply for, mentioned Sage Line 50 experience.

from personal experience people want actual experience in SAGE not just the qualifications that one is not even a proper qualification just a completion certificate it also includes interactive simulations of SAGE so you wont actually be using the real product so you wont have much of an overall view of the package

my opinion is to leave it

A course wont give you experience in using it.

Sage 50 is still an accounts package. Maybe database input but admin staff don't use Sage 50 as far as I know and I have 3 years experience in accounts using Sage 50 - admin didn't use it.

If you don't know what Sage is, then a short course will teach you parrot fashion to input data onto it. It won't teach you to understand what the programme is actually doing. It's a double-entry bookkeeping software programme & as an experienced accounts professional I am pretty cheesed off correcting mistakes made by people who input data onto Sage but have no idea what they are doing in reality & couldn't spot a mistake if it hit them in the face!

Far better to say you don't have Sage experience, but feel that learning in the job alongside someone who knows what they are doing would lead you to a better understanding of the system than a course that is not in the real world.
