Local Government Pension Scheme-extra contributions

Some advise please. My partner (52 next b/day) works at a school (£18000pa) and pays into the LGPS. She wants to bolster her retirement benefits , is it worth paying extra into this or would it be better to save elsewhere?
Thank you.
Thank you.

AVCs from the LGPS allow you to take your tax-free lump sum from the AVC pot to avoid commuting the main pension scheme. If she has been there since before 2008 her LGPS benefits will come with an automatic lump sum but if she wishes to take extra she can use the AVC pot so very worthwhile.
There is also ARC which allows additional pension to be bought although I believe there are changes to be made with that.0
