NEXT trousers

I have found some really nice trousers in NEXT but they just don't seem to want people to buy from them!
They did not have my size in-store so I checked on-line and they do have them in stock! So I went into town and asked the store to order them for me....out of stock....I was told...they can't be I said as I have just checked on-line...oh they come from different warehouse they said,,,but you can order on-line. I am happy to order on-line but really do not want a credit account with them or be credit checked for 1 pair of trousers.
If anyone here works for NEXT can they please confirm if this stupid rule is correct:(
