have I done the right thing with my PCN?

in June I got a PCN parking fine for being too long on a private carpark behind some shops. I had a tiny baby at the time who had been ill and I had to get her changed and then the person parked next to me was so close I couldn't get the baby seat into the car without climbing through the car. All of these took me extra time to get out of the car park. When I got the original letter I emailed them to inform them of these circumstances to see if they would waiver the fine but they just keep sending me the letters without reference to my email.
I visited this site (and took advice from a friend who had a similar issue on a different car park) and decided just to ignore the letters and see what happened.
I know have a notice of intended cour action from a debt recovery company and I am just looking for advice. Should I continue to ignore until such time I get a RED letter or should I pay the now £150 fine??

It doesn't matter what colour the ink is!

Anyway who is the parking company? Is this in England or Wales ? Did you admit to being the driver? Did you get an auto email back confirming delivery ?

Okay Euro Car Parks have issued the grand total of 1 (one) claim to the 12 months to October 2013, so you can see they are are just a pathetic bunch of shysters. I guess its control account writing to you? See the thread just below yours that also is euro, and linked below.

  • the letter is from debt recovery plus Ltd. But I think it is the same type of letter as stated in the thread you attached as it says notice of intended court action and to prevent the case being passed to the creditors solicitors to commence court proceedings you must pay the full amount of £150 by 11/11/13

thank you so much for your reply I appreciate it

Well they can't issue claims as the debt is not theirs! You will get Zenith Collections next, they are in fact debt recovery pretending to be someone else . So ignore unless you get a notice before claim

No the letter from Debt Recovery plus is not the same as the ones that Control account are sending out. Since you have got this for down the 'ignore' line, you should ignore this one too.

If you get a letter called Letter Before Claim (or Letter Before Action, or similar) then you must NOT ignore that, as the next step is court.

In the meantime, what was the car park? Was it a supermarket? Retail park? Hotel?

It's funny how euro are using two different debt collectors at the same time. I can't recall them doing it before, but then I haven't paid much attention to it

I haven't checked - any chance that 'Euro car parks' and 'Euro parks' are two different outfits?

What happened when you complained about this harassment (like you would), to the Store Managers where you were shopping?

Please just search the forum for the keyword 'Recovery' or 'Zenith'. This forum works for you once you learn how to search the multitude of threads. With one search you can find other threads already talking about these letters every week. Ignore DRP and Zenith.

Even if you didn't know how to search the forum yet, you can find threads on the first few pages here talking about these letters - e.g. Troy Tempest's threads plus zillions of others if you track back just a few pages. Always read some threads, go back several pages and you will learn from others' experiences.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
