With talktalk fibre for about 3 mths now. Its great almost 37mbps download.
When on then old talktalk broadband used to get a lot of dropouts too but fibre seems different.
Been with talktalk for a good few years now so got a great deal as well, Costs £21.75 a mth (this includes the upfront 12 mth line rental)
anytime calls + free international calls, fibre costs £5 a month but I get £2 a month loyalty discount. Half price essentials for 18 months.
As I said above the total is £21.75 a month, same package with BT would cost me almost £40 a month I believe.
You have to ring up the talktalk retentions team to get the above or similar deal and let them know that you are thinking of going to BT or Sky. It is local loop enabled where I live and that can help them to lower their prices I believe.
At the moment I'm more than happy with Talktalk fibre, it was an easy painless installation as well no probs, and hasn't even gone off once since it was installed.

I have Sky Unlimited (paid), and it's getting a bit tired; my "up to" 20 Mbps service delivers just under 6 Mbps.
I've got Virgin's 60 MBps cable service too, and it does what it says on the tin.
Why have I got two? Well, there were problems with the Sky one (mainly BT's fault), so I got Virgin. But I kept the Sky one in case of issues with Virgin. It seems fine, so I'll probably close off Sky.0 -
Anyone on Utv Connect Fibre ? Going to ditch BT, they've got too dear.0

Wouldn't want to go with utv connect either for fibre as I believe overpriced and their discounts soon run out, also a lot of packages not unlimited downloads.

Plusnet for fibre.. WOW... A file just over 1GB toook under 3 minutes.
The openreach guy said his equipment showed 82mb possible. But my package is ONLY 69mb.
A slight improvement over 4mb.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

That's the first good word I've ever seen about Talk Talk but I suppose on a site like this all one is going to read are the complaints.forgotmyname wrote: »Plusnet for fibre.. WOW... A file just over 1GB toook under 3 minutes.

A slight improvement over 4mb.
I never look at file sizes anymore. I haven't a clue what I'm paying for either in speed terms except that I always go for the top package in speed and download allowance which I know is costing me £31 a month from Plusnet at the moment.
If I'd been getting 4Mb with Virgin I'd have stayed with them but I'm happy as a sand boy now. One of those lovely situations where you're getting what you're paying for.0 -

With the new BT Sport etc BT are on a massive drive to get new customers, and retain current ones.
Phone them up and tell them you are thinking about leaving and ask what they can do for you...
Works well if you have documentation to hand to say what you can get elsewhere (sky flyer especially).0 -
UTV doing 40Mb unlimited, £30 for first 6 months, £35 after.
Includes line rental and evening and wknd calls.
Not a bad deal.
I checked Plusnet, their calls are only weekend it seems.
I've already requested my mac code from BT. I'm now apparently a valued customer and they don't want to loose me. I might ring them to see if they will match UTV to save me the hassle of moving.0 -

I wouldn't consider that a great deal over £35 a month and no unlimited anytime calls.
For anyone who regularly calls republic of Ireland I believe BT are good in that regard as its billed like UK calls. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
PlusNet seem great until you start adding all the extras like anytime calls and calls to republic of Ireland which comes under international calls at £7 a month.
At the same time I cant blame anyone for going to a different company especially if having nightmares with present ISP, even if it costs more, would do same myself.
Another worthwhile question to ask an isp is how much would they charge for call out engineer if fault is on your side of master socket. I think its £50 with talktalk which wont break the bank, with others I believe well over £100.

I wouldn't be needing to phone the ROI that often, I imagine most wouldn't either. I'm at work during the day, so anytime calls are not needed. I could probably get away with no calls to he honest and use the mobile free minutes.
I pay BT £48 a month, mostly for calls I don't use.0
