How`s everyones Broadband?

Any recommendations for phone and BB packages?

With Talktalk ourselves, the service here is a disgrace at the moment, drop-outs every evening from 6pm to bedtime, judging from their help forums i`m not the only one with this issue.

Plusnet very good they have a decent offer for new customers for adsl at mo think its £2.99 unlimited for a year if they take phone with them. I use them for fibre and great service so far in 10 months. I am signing my MIL with them soon as she wants to be online she should get around 8-10Mbps

Also get cashback of £38 http://www.plus.net/home-broadband/

Just realised after posting your in NI only saw the heading in main forum so unsure if they do NI or not although it does state UK

Would have stayed with them if they'd offered fibre in my area but I'm too remote. Their TV service is fantastic.

I'm really glad to hear that, as I've been with them for 18 months now. (as I said above) ;)

Would second that - been with most broadband suppliers and these are as good as any if you are in an area that is connected. Also don't charge for call outs unlike I think Sky do.
Also, if getting a package with the tv as well, one thing to note is that the service is unaffected by adverse weather - especially important in a climate like ours!

Just moved to Sky fibre, had a complete nightmare moving due to BT and BT Openreach incompetence, no service for a week and around 14 hours on the phone sorting it. Sky up and running for 3 days without a hitch, fast, unlimited and 6 months free, hopefully my troubles are over.

BT offered me 35p, yes 35 pence, off my monthly bill if I renewed with them, absolute joke of a firm

Very good point about the weather.

I was with them for years. I started off with Telewest then Virgin bought them out. The whole thing was very simple and although we never had any problems - at all - from what I've heard it's a very simple matter for them to check the connection by computer so they never have to send engineers out unless there is a break in the cable, which sometimes happens through vandalism.

They seem to be consolidating and making profit from their existing infrastructure and although I can't blame them for that I wish they would reinvest and start making more provision throughout the province. It's a big job though. I can remember when they were doing it in GB and every pavement and road had to have a trench cut in it. Ok their machinery did it quickly and the work passed very quickly bit it's a massive investment to carry out that sort of public works.

I can tell you now, that although I'm extremely happy with Plusnet from an operational and customer service point of view for fibre broadband and e-mail I'd be very quick to take the Virgin TV service. Record two programmes at once whilst watching a third independently, fantastic catchup service, great menus and all seamless because of the speed of the connection. The installation costs were buttons too.

Our problem with Virgin here was that we were stuck with ordinary broadband which wasn't even giving us 0.5 of a meg consistently. The speed was so low they couldn't even detect it. We had engineers in and out of here for months. No joy. When I was advised here to examine Plusnet I couldn't believe what was being offered until it was in and working and I saw it for myself.

If I'd known in advance that Plusnet were owned by BT I would have had a more jaundiced view of them but I'd say to anyone thinking of getting fibre that you'd be hard pushed to do better than Plusnet. Unless you go for the full BT package which is a bit expensive.

Plusnet are now thinking of launching a TV service and I think I'll take that too if and when it comes out.

BTW I've heard that TalkTalk is probably the worst service to have.
