Repaying debt from afar

Hello,

I moved to Aus with work 2 years old but I still have debt in the UK which I;m keen to move out here so its easier to pay off. I'm currently sending money home from one bank account to another and I get charged everytime.

Help.

How are you transfering the money monthly? and how much are you being charged currently?

There are others on this forum who are repaying debts from abroad who may be able to suggest a cheaper way to transfer the money.

In terms of wanting to borrow in Aus to repay the UK debt off - Have you spoken to your Aus current account bank? Have they said they are likely to consider a loan to you now you have been working there for 2 years?? what are typical APRs in Aus and how does that compare to the interest rates you are paying in the UK?
