As per title.

Still 7% below peak in nominal terms, and more like 25% below in real terms.

A long way to go before the recovery is complete, although we're getting there, slowly but surely.

This is another vicious triple kick in the man packet of any poor renter desperate for a small secure home.

These vile house price rises are festering symptoms of a sick society that cares more about banks and pension funds than about decent homes for decent people.

Pretty funny that the usual suspects have skulked away with their tails between their legs just as the recovery gets warned up, after so many years of posting obsessively how the "next big leg down" was always just around the corner.:D

Can you imagine the frenzy if these were -5.8% YoY?

Many have probably just bought houses. Their personalities were so linked to falling house prices that once purchased their online presence became irrelevant. If your username is something like 'thenextlegdownisthebigone' it doesn't quite fit with being buying on Help to Buy.

I miss the good old days when Graham would just say 'good' when NW fell 0.1% MoM and 0.2% YoY.

    :rotfl:

While completely ignoring the fact that any falls were only caused by wholly artificial mortgage rationing, and the moment that eased, as it inevitably would at some point, prices would start shooting up again because the crash/crunch made the shortage of housing even worse than it already was!

    Talk about "kicking the can".....:D

Should providing a home for your family really be all about missing boats and stuff like that? Sounds a little sad to me.

Unfortunately it's reflection of a series of disastrous housing policies since WW2:

    - Green Belt: fail
    - Council housing: fail
    - Housing benefit: fail
    - Planning policies: fail
    - Fixed rents: massive fail (now long gone and good riddance)

If increased demand can't be reflected by increased supply then only one thing can happen to prices....

    It really is that simple.

Yet still seems so hard for some to understand.....

In a totally free market, yes. The argument may be that something as critical as house should be controlled in some way. Either on the demand or supply side.
