Hi,
you could try on screen keyboard to log in, then try to find a fix.

leave the usb keyboard plugged in while you re-boot. which os are you using?......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple

I'm not sure that keyboard is accessible from the login screen.

Did the USB ports work before? Have you used them before? If not then it may be that USB is disabled in the BIOS. Your problem is that you'll need a working/active keyboard to even get into the BIOS.
Can you find/borrow an old-style keyboard with purple connector? OR ... get a USB to "Purple" adapter and try that with a USB keyboard?0 -
Try leaving the USB keyboard for a few minutes. As you've been using the PS2 (purple) type it will need to install the relevant drivers to run the USB one before you can use it in Windows.0

I usually log-on using the screen keyboard. When you switch on have you got a little red icon in the bottom left hand corner, click that.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Which operating system are you on? XP or Vista or Win7 or other?
Can make a difference as to how drivers are installed.
You may not have automatic driver updates set up, as an example...Friendly greeting!0 -
Does capslock light come on, using original keyboard, and does F8/safe mode or going into bios work before windows starts!!
