Washing Powder won't go down into machine

My trusty washing machine has started playing up. Although some of the powder will go down, much of it stays in the tray. It seems to go down from the pre-wash side as normal however. I have removed and cleaned the powder tray more than once.
Any suggestions ?

A Bosch washing machine we used to own was always doing this.
We had to keep cleaning the tiny holes above the tray where the water presumably comes from. They were always getting clogged up with washing powder etc.
I used various tools from paperclips to tiny tie wraps. If it is this problem then you need to take the tray out and find something with a 45 degree angle that you can poke upwards and get rid of the 'gunk' in the holes.
Of course it might be something different but hope this helps.0 -
I always put the powder directly into the drum, so don't have this problem.
It disolves properly, so no gungy tray and clean washing - win-win. I don;t know if it is recommended, but will continue to do it with both powder and liquid.0 -
You could run a couple of empty cycles on the hottest wash? It might dissolve anything clogging it a bit better.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I'm not an expert but it sounds like a problem with the water flow into the drawer.

We started using the persil tablets (and net bag), putting it directly in the drum - problem solved.
On a MSE note we always use 1 tablet rather than the recommended 2.0 -
Have you changed your brand of powder? We had this problem when we tried to save money by buying cheaper brands. To clear it i put boiling water down tray then ran it empty on a hot wash. Tried another brand and its fine.0
