What are my options?

Option 1:
Sell anything you have that could get over £50 for
What sort of TV do you have - must of the newish ones could probably fetch at least £100 second hand
Other things - mobile phones, laptops, Ipads - get these things on gumtree immeadiately.
Old clothes - take thm to cash for clothes shops.
Borrow as a last resort.
Do councils still do crisis/Hardship loans - I don't think you have to be on benefits to get it.
Borrowing options
Open a new Bank account and see what kind of overdraft you get offered?
And final question - what sort of bills are you paying that your Direct debits excluding rent are £400 - can you cancel anything?Weight loss challenge, lose 15lb in 6 weeks before Christmas.0 -
Hi Lazer and thank you. I'm going to ask the CU about a hardship loan when I call back today.
We don't have much that's saleable
It's not that we have DD's of £400, we have a shortfall between what will be in my (overdraft) account and the rent.
I'll be calling the CU again in half an hour so will hopefully not have to go knocking a w0ng@'s door.0 -
Opinions4u, I hear what you say but a bit like your strap line says I don't want to disadvantage someone just because we're in a pickle.0

And I genuinely admire you for it.lovely-cup-of-tea wrote: »Opinions4u, I hear what you say but a bit like your strap line says I don't want to disadvantage someone just because we're in a pickle.0 -
I just wanted to thank everyone who took the time and trouble to respond to my query last week. At the last minute a payment went into my account early which means I'm able to pay my rent today. Phew! I will still need help from the credit union but the immediate pressure is off.
I never want to feel such dispair again but the experience has taught me and OH some valuable lessons about planning and not leaving things until the last minute.0 -
Very glad to hear that. I know what it's like!0
