Hi Folks
shot in the dark here but worth a try
paid £264 a couple of years ago for a pair of specs
anyhow the arm on them came away at the hinge
took them back to where I bought them
after a few days of messing around was told they no longer make that type ( surpries ) but can get a new pair for well you know the score
they just wanted more dosh off me
not an option the price they wanted
I have seen online sites claming to fix any type of problem with your specs, has anyone used such sites and if so
can they recommend one

May be worth a trip to the pound shop. They sell some good repair kits. But, have you had your eyes tested? It may be that you need some new specs? Eye tests show up all sorts of other problems too.
If money is the problem you can now get some really nice specs through the NHS voucher. Mine are Specsavers which sell at £69, I paid £10 and I'm very happy with them.0 -
Firstly, I have to say I am not affiliated with the suggested company - I have just use them frequently.
It sounds like there isn's just a screw missing otherwise the opticians would have fixed them there and then so a glasses repair kit would not work.
If the spring has gone in a sprung joint this can usually be fixed, either by repairing or replacing the sprung joint (depending on material of the frame) - sometiemes due to design this may not be possible but sometimes it can.
If the metal has actually snapped then it can be (depending on material of the frame) soldered and recoloured however this will always be a weak point in the frame.
If it is really really broken then a new arm can be manufactured to match your current one, but as you can imagine this is not cheap and also depends on the material of the frame. (You would have to find a different company to do this but it is possible)
You can post your frame to this company http://eyewearrescue.com and they can tell you whether they can fix it or not. They're not the cheapest about but are the only ones I have used. I'm sure if you wanted you could find another similar. IMO £25-£30 repair on a £264 frame is worth it!
Or you can do an internet search on the make and model of your frame and see if you can buy one online and swap the lenses over.0
