Compensation?

I am one of the unfortunate ones whose mortgage offer seems to be taking ages. To cut short a long story, its been 7 weeks since I made my mortgage application directly to the bank. The current situation is that all searches etc have come through on the house but I am still waiting for the mortgage offer letter. The reason given for the delay is that some documents went missing by the bank and I was not even notified about this!

I have registered a complaint with the Customer Relations team of the bank and await a reply from them.

Do I have a case to claim any compensation from the bank due to the stress and frustration I have been through due to failure on their part?

No.

You are not financially out of pocket and these things can take time. 7 weeks is not a long time. It can certainly be quicker but its not unusual to be much longer. A complaint may result in a goodwill gesture but you certainly are not entitled to anything.
