Signed up for Equifax Gold - can't see credit file!

Hi,
I'm new to all this. I signed up for the Equifax Gold 30 day freebie on the advice of the credit rating page on MSE. It's all okay but I still can't find my credit file. It always directs me to the file that they want me to pay £14.95 for.
They have a small link where I can request my statutory report for £2 through the post, but if that's it, but I could've done that anyway.
So what's the point in signing up, and should the credit rating page be amended to say that signing up will be of absolutely no use?
Confused...... any help would be appreciated, especially if you've signed up for this yourself.
Thanks.

Well I got so fed up (patience is not one of my virtues!0 I phoned Equifax to find out why I couldn't see my credit file. Turns out although I had clicked on the link for Equifax Gold, I hadn't signed up for it, and had merely registered onto the site. The very abrupt and snappy lady on the phone asked for my card details - apparently you need to give your card details over, even though it's a free trial, so they can automatically start charging you in 30 days. As I've just moved she couldn't process the order, and said she'd pass my card details to "some people" which would take 48 hours.
I started to say don't worry about it, I think I'll pay the £2 postal order and do it through the post, and she said "ok bye" before I'd even finished the sentence!
It seems this isn't as easy as one first thought!0
