Mortgage submission stopped over £19 VODAFONE payment 😞 help! - NOW SORTED!!

Hi Guys.
I have been to RBS to start the ball rolling with my mortgage (first time buyer) and took all requested docs etc...
I have the deposit, i meet the requirements and i took everything they asked for.
The advisor was happy with all my decisions and all was going well until the computer stopped the submission due to 'poor credit'.
I am absolutely squeaky clean with my credit, and so is my partner, we have never missed payments etc...
So i went and got a credit report from Experian and checked through it all, after a few phone calls i was told that a previous address wasn't on my report and when it was added there was an outstanding payment of £19 owed to Vodafone from 5 years ago.
I have contacted Vodafone who basically told me the payment was for call charges and was charged to me after my contract had ended.
I was unaware of all this going on and they have placed a default on my credit and kept trying to take this payment for the past 5 years.
I have now settled the debt and obtained proof of payment etc... from Vodafone and sent it all to RBS.
Experian says it could take 4 weeks for the settled Default to show on my account as they only refresh once a month.
RBS says they need more than just proof of payment to appeal my credit check.
Without this Default my credit score is around ~950 (just under Excellent).
I have already had an offer accepted on a house and its been removed form the market, but i cannot wait 1 month to start the ball rolling or i fear i will lose the house as the owner wants to be out ASAP.
Anything that i can do to hurry this up?
Im absolutely gutted that a silly little mistake has stopped my application

Speak to a Mortgage Broker rather than speaking to banks directly. They will know which lender will be sympathetic to this.
Go to a proper mortgage broker rather than one in the estate agent.0 -

There is a vodafone representative who answers posts on here. search for vodafone and send them a message. maybe they can supply the comfort that RBS seek?0

broker broker broker honestly you will get a mortgage but blindly applying may do more harm then good xx0

Due to prospective problems like these, I chose the broker route though could have got better mortgage deals otherwise and I don't regret it.0

I am going for 95% LTV so i didn't see much point in a broker as there was only RBS/Natwest/Halifax/Yorkshire bank in the running.
They are all the same rate of 4.99% and pretty much all Help to buy.
Is it really worth going to a broker only to get the same rate and deal?
I wouldn't want to slow the process and incur even more cost only to be told what i already know?
Thanks for replies0 -
For a 95% mortgage a default will almost certainly kill itI am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. So due to me having a £19 default on a mobile phone from 5 years ago means i have zero chance of getting a 95% mortgage?
Seriously?!?!
Sounds pretty harsh considering i have a pretty large credit report and all of it is 100% clean with no late or missing payments other than this.
Which i wasn't aware of.0 -
At 95%, it's not really the amount. It's the simple fact of a visible default on your credit history.I am a mortgage broker. But can i appeal this with the lender.
Surely I'm not suddenly a huge risk due to something that is quite obviously a mistake.
I know a default looks bad, but the account is now settles and is the only payment that i have ever missed in my entire life.
All previous payments on that and every other account are in the green and always have been.
I don't believe that your entire credit future and chances of a mortgage can be stopped due to such a small thing?0
