Yea, I suppose comping is an addiction -- but the way I see it is at least this addiction isn't costing me money....... ok, it takes up most of my free time, but the missus is happy with what I do as she benefits from the prizes (to the tune of a £600 tablet)

I work from home and the missus works full time - so most of the day I am home alone - I do my comping in between work quite spells, I have a break from comping when the missus gets home (spend quality time together)
Then when she is playing (probably pet rescue saga) on the tablet that I won I have an hour catching up.
Any wins that we don't want - we either keep for presents for family or we sell on and place the proceeds in a pot that goes towards our next holiday.... we have managed to save enough up in the last few months from the prizes to take us to Dominican Republic for 16 nights (which we will be jetting off to in 5 weeks time) so will have to get used to having a break from the comping early December... lol

If you can take time from comping in early December then you are less addicted than me mate :D  I need help! Wonder if I can win some. Blu X

  • Well done! That was lovely to read! And have a wonderful holiday.

I'm a comping addict nearly a year now. I can really say that it has helped me so much. The reason why I started was after I had a horrible split from my ex husband. When the kids were sleeping I was going crazy with thinking. I saw the competitions forum and haven't looked back since. It was the best therapy for me :)
Thank you to all the posters

Ok I expect to get shot down in flames here so I will try the old positive/negative/positive sandwich approach..

Really pleased to hear you have managed to give up gambling and that you are enjoying comping.

It does sound like you may just have given up one form of addiction for another and not so much dealt with your issues as transferred it. This may not be a problem for you but can you choose not to comp for any length of time?

    Congratulations on your wins.

Some people have addictive personalities - a kind of all or nothing attitude to life.... It is often more effective to accept that is your base personality and simply make sure your "addictions" or obsessions are diverted into more beneficial areas eg replacing chocolate with fruit, soaps addiction with running, bingo with comping or congratulating people on the positives in their lives when they post instead of a miserable and nasty response putting them down !!!!

Enjoy Dominican Republic. I was there two years ago at the Hard Rock Hotel. They gave $25 a NIGHT for the slots at the casino. The secret there was to play all the $25 and collect what it won. i.e. Don't "reinvest" it!!
But you say have a break from comping!! The rooms at my hotel had free Wi-Fi and I took my Ultrabook (prize) with me so while my wife was skyping her mother I could do some comps. SAD, I know.

Well done with stopping the gambling, I know it can ruin lives
    thanks to all posters

We already been to Dom Rep 7 times before - so it is somewhere close to our hearts.

No casinos where we are going though (Cayo Levantado, a little island just off the north coast mainland) ... but they do have free wi-fi ....... will be taking my tablet, but only to check to see if I have any WEM whilst I am away --- don't want to miss any prizes LOL

I would just like to say a big thankyou to everyone that posts the comps on this site.

I started comping at the end of June 2013 and to date have won around 65 prizes, so would consider that quite lucky.

Before I found the comp section on this site I was addicted to gambling ..... fruit machines, online slots, bingo sites - you name it I did it.... and it cost me a fortune - some weeks I would spend £1000+

But since I started comping I have no time for gambling and have not spent 1 single penny on any fruit machine, online slot or bingo (or any other form of gambling) ........ I find it more enjoyable spending my spare time entering all the wonderfull comps and probably I win more too...

    So thankyou again ....

How do you comp? I mean what's your routine? I started in June and have entered for every holiday, tv, cash, etc but not won as many as 65! What's your secret?

Way to go Daza! I think you're pretty awesome to first admit you had a problem (and publically) and secondly (most importantly) swinging your 'need' around to something free to do.

Huge congrats on your wins and may you enjoy comping and winning for many more years to come.
