Nationwide holding things up

We were about to exchange a month ago. Then the problem of an unadopted road came up.

The solicitor needed to check with Nationwide that it's okay to proceed.

Nationwide still havent had a response from their valuer about the issue. it's been going on for 4 weeks.

Is this normal? How can I speed things up? I call the solicitor everyday for an update, but nothing changes. I'm worried we'll lose the house if this continues for much longer.

What can I do?

Ring up Nationwide and ask them what they are awaiting for. Then go and find the person they are waiting on and chase them.

I know that in the area I was buying, it was taking 3 weeks for a valuation with Nationwide.
