positive outcome with the baliff, and some advice if you worried about debt

Today was a difficult day, but ultimately good. If you have been following the story, we've had a levy placed upon our caravan that we live in and the baliff chasing us for council rate arrears.

We contacted StepChange and set up a dmp. They are really very lovely people to deal with and helped us tredmendously. They are even going to contact our debtors and deal with them.

We then contacted community legal advice and citizens advice bureau to find out whether the levy was valid or not. Turns out its not so we can deal with that tomorrow.

Finally we contacted the baliff and found out that he had actually negotiated a better payment plan for us so all we have to do is contact Bristow and Sutor tomorrow, get the levy removed and work out the details of the repayment. So that is a HUGE weight of our minds.

If anyone is reading this and worried about debt, my suggestion is use all the free help you can. Learn your rights, and your obligations and work your way through it. It honestly feels so much better to know we have support, and having this all dealt with. We've got a ways to go to get out of debt completely, but just knowing we've got that support feels very empowering.
Debt as of March 2018, £794 rent arrears £4273.7 debt, £900.70 in pay day loans, total £5968.40 . Total debt today £5968.40

Glad to hear the levy wasn't valid and good luck dealing with it.

Just be cautious about thinking the bailiff is doing you any sort of favour with his comments about negotiating a deal of your behalf.
