First Credit Debt Collection
CM2013
Hi,
This is my first post, so i'm not sure if I have put it in the right place. I've read through so many of these posts before without posting. Now I have a problem that I can't see something similar too.
About one year ago I defaulted on an AQUA credit card that had a credit limit of £700. Being a stupid 22 year old I just ignored it and let the debt build up to £1,200 that it is now ans it's with first credit.
I am currently a final year student at uni and for the first year since i've been to uni, i'm not working as I have I had to quit my part-time job as it clashed with my final year timetable.
Anyway, 1st Finance DCA contacted me and per the advice on here I said email contact only please, which they agreed. I offered to pay %5 of the balance over 20 months and they rejected my offer.
I'm not sure what to do now as they have treatened court action etc. I have other debts, but this is the highest

Hi
Do you mean you offered £60 a month?
If so then even if a creditor says that they won't accept your repayment offer the best thing to do is to start making the payments anyway. That way if they did take court action then at least it demonstrates to the court you have been paying what you can afford.
If you do start repayments at that level its fairly unlikely they will take court action against you. Not impossible certainly but they may well realise that the court wouldn't order you to pay anymore than that anyway.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
If you've read some of the other posts on here, you'll know hat 1st Credit do threaten a lot, and their threats mainly say "may' or "could". thay used to ring and threaten us, we just kept paying and are now a 'valued customer' lol. they can't take what you haven't got, so just start paying what you can. if you're really worried try contacting stepchange (details on here somewhere) for some advice. good luck. (and we're paying much less than 5% a month)0

Hi, First crudit threaten a lot of things, but like most DCA`s its all mostly bluster, if your not working, then tell them that, don't skint yourself for these clowns, don't feel pressured into paying what you cant afford, if you can only afford £1 a week, pay £1 a week, they will eventually accept it, trust me, and don't be afraid of court action either, its highly unlikely, and even if they did take you to court a judge would not make you pay more than you could afford, and they know that, you tell them what you can pay, not what they want you to pay.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
