bank charges

Hey!

Do any of you guys know if its possible to pay bank charges over a couple of months as opposed to all in one chunk. HSBC want to take £176 from me next month and this is really gonna set me back. Someone in an earlier post suggested that I may be able to pay them over time.

I am not going to ask them to cancel the fees as they have done that before in the past but I would really benefit from paying them over a 2-3 month period.

How likely is it that they will let me do this?

THanks

WW

IMO no chance at all. If your account is controlled by the bank's collections team they have more scope to delete charges rather than a branch manager (especially if they have refunded before in last 12 months).
  • Thanks for reply. I thought it was a long shot. It's so annoying and I only have myself to blame!!! the really annoying this is I am only in this mess as I accidentally paid some bills twice!!! I set up CC payments and forgot and then paid again!! this forces me into an unauthorised OD and other bills came out etc etc. It all got a bit messy.

very annoyed with myself but also a little bit with HSBC. I know the fees are in the T&C's but it did not cost them £176 for me to go a little over my OD limit grrr.

Maybe coming clean with them about your error will make them sympathetic...can't make it worse?

Write a letter explaining your error in double paying and you may get a sympathetic response, if you don't ask, you don't get !!!!
