I'm just having a3.7kwh solar pv put in and I'm wondering if it would make sense for me to change from my current mains gas combi boiler to an electric boiler ...

No - when you need your boiler most (i.e. in the winter) the solar will struggle to even dent the energy required to heat your house, and gas is around 1/4 of the price per kWh compared to electricity.Adventure before Dementia!0
