Second job help

Hi
I need some guidance to a second job please.
I work full time and earn £1,244 per month after tax.

Today I started a new job which is part time.
My weekly income will be £119.89 before tax.

I have no idea how to work out how much tax I will be paying and if the second job is going to be worth it. Long dark hours :/
I need to know what I will be taking home from both jobs after tax per month.

I really hope someone can help id be so grateful!

Thanks
Kim

I *think* you'll be paying 20% IT and 12% NI so 32% of every pound earned will be tax. If you're earning an additional £120 per week then that's £81.60 after tax.

For an accurate estimate check out sites that calculate tax for you such as http://www.uktaxcalculators.co.uk/ or http://www.listentotaxman.com/
  • That's a great help thank you.

Not quite as simple as this.
Tax will be 20% assuming no other taxable income or large variation from normal 944L tax allowance.
NI is where it gets a bit more complicated, if your second job has no connection with your first job it will be treated separately and you will get a second NI allowance so no NI due unless earnings go over £146 a week. If second job is connected to first job eg same employer then the two may be added together and 12% NI may be deducted.
  • Thank you. This is so helpful!

So the second job has no relation to the main job.
Correct me if I'm wrong so does that mean no NI paid on second job.
Therefore 20% minus £120 should give me £96 per week?

    Kind regards!
