Co Op price reductions

Have the Co-Op changed their price reduction policy? I'm sure I used to be able to get some great reductions on meat but now the amount seems to be very little that I may as well buy the more expensive stuff as it will last longer.
On the other hand they've got some great offers on at the moment, I've stocked up with Surf should keep me going until 2015 as should the Comfort that I've bought!

I'm not a regular Co-op shopper as we don't have one locally. However, on the odd occasion I have called in the large store in the next town, especially mid afternoon, I have always managed to get some meat products at a good reduction. If this is no more then I won't bother making the detour! A shame as now and then they have good special offers on."If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

Perhaps they are doing much better on stock control and/or they have changed the time of putting on reduction label? I saw some gammon joints being reduced by 50% last week when passing my local co-op.0

Stock control in my local is much better now. Up to around 3 months ago I had to stop going as I was almost getting too much stuff to put in the freezer. But they have changed the way they do it. Tend to knock 50% off the day before (not enough for me), and then go to 75% off (that's my minimum
) at around 4.30pm on the day it goes out of date.

I've come to the conclusion that my local Co-op would rather throw stuff away than reduce the price by any meaningful amount. For example, loaves of bread for a £1. If they sold them for say 40p they'd all go. Nope, the Co-op love filling their skips up with wasted food.0

According to a sales assistant in one of my locals, they have changed their system fairly recently (a few months ago). Before, they used to do a blue/white written reduced sticker and the reduction was hand written and determined in store. Now the reduced price is determined by a hand held device (sorry, don't know what the correct terminology is!) which I believe scans the original price/date and then issues an orange reduced label - so restricting the reduction. The price is only then reduced further (in my local at least) after around 4.00pm on the last date (use by or best before) - I believe this is still determined by the store. So really, in my local, the only real bargains are when the items have been "double dropped" as we call it
But there are fewer of these now - maybe others are buying orange stickered stuff before they get the chance to double drop, or maybe it's just that everyone else beats me to them

Hand Held Terminal. It will be something like 10% off going to 20% off, 50% or whatever etc.0 -

Depends when you go (time of day mostly) and how much they have to get rid of. Mostly they knock about 50p off and then reduce throughout the day.
The other week I walk into my local co-op quite early in the day for a few bits, checked the reduced and came back with £46 of meat for £22.50, many things like a pack of two Chicken Breasts were £1.00, Prawns 50p, 500g Pork Mince £1.00 etc. So it was a bargain too good to pass up.Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -
Went into my local coop this afternoon and went to the reduced section, lots of meat. I bought a leg of lamb which had been £17 reduced down to £5.99, never would have paid the full price but don't mind the £5.99 price, lamb is so expensive.0

I got pork lions reduced from £4.20 to £1.00 yesterday and some cubed beef reduced to £1.20. I used to be able to get things like 6 pork chops for 20p, think they have better stock control now, we have a revamped shop and it seems very expensive to me , i just stick to Tesco across the road. Although can still pop to the co-op and get fresh bakery stuff for 20p if i get there at the right time.0
