:rotfl:As far as being "reliable" is concerned (this back onto another topic now), in order to avoid anyone making wasted journeys to M, it think it good enough to mention that, as regards M products and prices on the M list, these are sometimes retained even if (on some weeks) I don't always find the items in stock in my M but it is still within the original expiry date of the offer when I saw the item the previous week. I keep some of the items on, even if they may have become no longer available in (presumably) many M stores or may be rapidly out of stock and the offer becoming unavailable, as you may still be able to find them in your M(s) even if I can't. As regards items that compare from A or T, I do remove these from the list if unable to find a product and no SEL either for it in M one week. The basis being that they might therefore be N/A and return as such on the A/T schemes. Thus being a risk - particularly if paying more expensive prices in A or T. But obviously, if they are 'buy in M' items (that aren't stocked in A or T), it doesn't have that risk and thus the items are sometimes kept on the M list a little longer.

There are exercises of judgement going on behind the scenes - for example if the prices are already price matched and the risk is just losing a few pence on 10% I might include an item even if the comparison is a little doubtful. But if it's a lot more expensive in A (for example) than M, it's likely I'll either leave off until I can check it more fully, getting details of ingredients I didn't have or didn't know were relevant at the time I took the price in M, or, increasingly, I'll add it onto the M list (if good) but with a note of caution that it needs to be checked more first!

    HTH.

    Evening all.

Today has been a hard day,yet again cancer has taken someone far to soon, my best friends dad felt poorly was usually pretty healthy but just recently lost his appetite and felt a bit week so went to the doctors after tests he was told he had cancer ,that was 6 weeks ago and today he gave up the fight :(

Sorry to hear this ilivetoshop. I don't think there are any of us on here who hasn't lost a friend or family member to this dreadful disease. Your best friend must be devastated.

    This:

ASDA Non-Drowsy Decongestant with Paracetamol (16 capsules)
55p 55p (vs M only) Cheaper per capsule than 'Congestion Relief'

is a bit risky because not sure yet whether M's version is "Non-Drowsy". But, even if it returns N/A, still I believe cheaper per capsule than the Congestion Relief version, and only 5.5p in any event.

    And this:

ASDA Smartprice 4 Minced Beef & Onion Pies (4x120g)
    £1.00 £1.00 (vs M only)

is also, to be honest, a bit of a risk because, although the one in M has "4 Minced Beef Pies" on the pack, it is 480g rather than saying 4x120g. Now..we all know that is the same, but the computers that match things up??? On the basis that some "& Onion" pies are matched up on msm.co.uk even where others do not have the Onion specified in their name, I've linked them up - Beef or Beef & Onion, it's the same, and its for 'same purpose' etc. Not a material difference IMO so as to make them non-comparable. Included anyway on the M list since it's cheaper in its own right (even without 10% off) than the Family Minced Beef Pie that was on there previously and, as the comp. is "vs M only" and therefore only showing a price for A and nowhere else on msm.co.uk (which doesn't include M), you couldn't do any better by placing it on another comp. - whereas putting it on A vs M (not available to Northern Ireland) might give you 10p.

    This:

ASDA BBQ Creamy Garlic Sauce (260g)
    £1.00 72.22222...p (until 10/11) (vs M)

gave rise to much internal debate yesterday in Savvy towers when I was deciding whether to put it onto the list or whether to retain it as M Garlic Burger Sauce (270g) at 75p (until 10/11) and not suggest a ten per cent (weight-adjusted) off M's price on the A version. More debate as A is £1. The M version contains mayonnaise, which is sort of cream, rapeseed oil (this item in the ingredients of both A and M's product) but also contains usually vinegar or lemon vinegar - no vinegar mentioned on A's website ingredients list...but, my thought was (and is) it will be linked up by the APG. Don't blame me though if not... (Also the expiry date is now a 'guide' only - does not guarantee that tomorrow this offer will still be ongoing - technically need to see whether it's still on offer in M on Monday. This refers back to the discussion earlier tonight about when to check receipts etc.)

That's the sort of judgement things that go on (the Burger Relish, separately on the M list, came from a womble, after I'd put just M's version on the list and felt comparison from an A product to be risky when it wasn't - didn't feel the products in A and M were close enough..but obviously msm says they are and, on reconsidering it now, I agree!).

Other items that are felt (even more) risky don't get onto the M list at all. Then I put the Brussels Pate on (quite some time ago on the M list, still ongoing), as that is, in effect, the same as the Liver Pate...and it returns N/A (but only 4.1p difference anyway!).
