Diet coke and heartburn/acid

I've realised that what's been causing my pain is diet coke/pepsi. This will make you laugh, but I initially thought it was the JD that I put in it
:rotfl: but if I have a JD and coke when I'm out I'm fine. Also, I've tried mixing with other things, and neat, and I'm fine. At home I usually buy diet drinks and that's where my problem is.
I've stopped drinking diet coke/pepsi, and the zero/max versions, and I've cut out diet squash too. I drink mainly water during the day plus a couple of coffees in the morning, I have full fat cordials (elderflower is so delicious) and full fat coke/pepsi in a JD in the evening. No heartburn or reflux :j
I'm assuming it's the artificial sweetner that causes the problems. Have you noticed this? Or is it just me and my rather peculiar stomach?

Artificial sweeteners aggravate my migraines so I've avoided them for years. When I first gave them up I noticed a big change in my general health and how I felt. I still miss fizzy drinks, but won't go back to them now.0
