Broken DKNY watch strap

Hi
Not sure of the best place to post this but I've been trying to get a DKNY watch fixed for ages with no joy. Apparently it's a common fault with the pin or screw on the strap falling out and the only way to get it fixed is - allegedly - to send it to DKNY. They don't have an office in the UK and the watch was bought in America.
Has anyone got any experience of sorting this or any bright ideas?
Help much appreciated!

Have you tried just taking it to an independent Jeweller
Or can you not just buy a new strap, it doesn't have to be a DKNY strap?make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Independent jewelers say it is a common fault they see and they cannot fix it. The strap is quite intricate, steel so new strap not really an option as is a big part of the watch.0

Mine has done the same... So for this I'll never buy another DKNY piece ...0

I'd worn mine twice and bought it in Mexico0

I heard that DKNY watches are re-badged Fossil watches? You could try a Fossil repairer?0

Hi
Yes, they are all made by Fossil, as are quite a few of the top brands apparently. Took it to DKNY in Manchester - there isn't one where I live - and they were very helpful. If it had been within 12 (ish) months and we could have proved that and they would have sent it to Fossil in Milton Keynes to fix for free (seems this is a flexible thing rather than set rule) or if we could prove which shop was bought in we could go there (we could prove which shop but it was in LA). As neither option applies they are getting a quote from MK and if we agree will send it off to them and post it back to us for what she said is usually a "nominal" charge. Fingers crossed. Woman - manager - in DKNY shop was v helpful.0 -

This sounds very promising but if you don't get a resolution through DKNY you might want to try asking about the watch on www.tz-uk.com, a major UK watch forum. There may well be someone there who can advise on where/how to get it repaired. If and when you ask on there, posting photos of the watch would be most helpful.
Anyway, hope DKNY can get it fixed for you.0 -
I had the same problem. Took it to Debenham jewellers/watch repairs and they told me it's a custom watch and they cannot repair it.
I've had it for a long time so fair enough.
I just bought a new watch.0 -

Is this the one where the top of the bracelet is a sort of two-strand solid bangle and the screws that hold them to the watch case fail?
If it is then can I be cheeky and ask what quote they give? Just wondering if the fiver I charged for the last couple I did was over-charging0 -
Hi All
I worked in The Watch and Clock shop in Milton Keynes about 4 years ago. As far as I know a watch shop should be able to help repair the watch or offer some sort of option. I remember lots of straps coming our way and every time we either requested a new strap from DKNY or fitted a suitable replacement.
hope this helps0
