I received a call from an unknown number on my landline stating they were from a government department and that a creditor of mine was not happy with an arrangement on my account. i received this call twice and in the end blocked unknown numbers from my line.
I then received a call on my mobile on thursday from the number in the title stating that they were a government health organisation but with a very similar conversation. The asian gentleman was very abrupt but i said that i was not willing to discuss any details with him and i hung up.
i have been unable to find out who this number belongs too but find it frustrating that these people can pose as government officials to scare people into giving them information

its a debt management company trying to get your details, normally the computer dialer keeps phoning you and you just get silence when you answer but recently they have been on the other end and hit you with lies as soon as you say anything.0

They are a shady debt management company. Stating that they are a government department, what type of scum works for these companies ? Am I being naïve thinking there should be a law against this kind of behaviour...lol0

What numpties. Government departments do not ring. They do not email. They contact via post only.Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.0

That's true, but they rely on peoples ignorance of this in order to operate, the same applies to debt collecting, some folk think they will be hauled off to jail or court by bailiffs for a £200 debt and its simply not true, its natural to assume some one with authority cant possibly be lying, but they do, arm yourself with knowledge, the internet is a fantastic source of information, use it to your advantage, not theirs:money:.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
