Price changes

Hi guys!

Does anyone know if there is any legislation or anything about the change of prices of items?

I bought an item online for £22.50 but the price has been lowered to £10 today and it has been less than a week!

The item still has all tags and all. If I could simply walk into the store, I would, but there isn't one local to me.

Please let me know!

Prices change all the time. Sometimes they go down, as in your case, and sometimes they go up. It's what is known as capitalism.

If prices were fixed, which is what you seem to think should happen, many companies would go bust when the price of raw materials increased. So there's not usually any laws against price fluctuations.

However there is good news for you. If you received your item less than seven working days ago, you can return it under the Distance Selling Regulations for a full refund although you may have to bear the cost of posting it yourself. So check the website's returns policy to see what you have to do.

Which!!! magazine has a useful guide to that particular law here:

You could try contacting the company - this happened to me a while ago - the price of a pair of shoes dropped by £15 the day after I received them. I gave them a call to politely let them know I was a little irritated and would be sending the item back and reordering (it was a free return) which would involve hassle at both ends and them paying extra for the return postage....the very kind customer service adviser refunded me the difference instead. It's worth a try. HTH
