Knowing this government they will make it so normal people will lose either way, either with wildly swinging tariffs endlessly or having to sign a 2 year contract with a firm to get a fixed rate.
I am all for the day when we can simply give them all the finger and swap and change company hourly without any problem or penalty."Don't blink. Blink and you're dead. They are fast. Faster than you can believe. Don't turn your back. Don't look away. And don't blink. Good Luck" - The Doctor.0 -
I would guess that nothing will happen before the May 15 general election, so it`s pretty safe to fix up `til then.
Cameron announced a review of green energy taxes which will take at least a year anyway.0 -
I have just followed MSE's advice and managed to re-fix my dual fuel tariff to Jan 17 with Scottish Power just two hours before they announced their latest price hike - initially increasing my monthly payments by £20 /mth (as I was coming to the end of my previous 2 year fixed tariff with them).
If the PM cuts green levies will a corresponding reduction be applied to the 'green' charges included in fixed tariffs? - logic says this should happen because if the green levies are then paid through general taxation then fixed tariff customers will actually pay twice!
Hopefully this will be taken into account - or Martin will lobby for it! :T0 -
Energy prices may go down as well as up. That's the chance you take when choosing to fix.
I wouldn't want to be tied in and so will not fix.
Should energy prices come down then I'll be happy, but I don't think those who fixed should be baled out of their deals. That's the gamble they took.I am the Cat who walks alone0 -
