Colgate Max Fresh 2 in 1 discontinued? Any alternatives?

Hi all,
I've been using Colgate Max Fresh 2 in 1 toothpaste for years now. It is the gel one like this:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Colgate-Toothpaste-Fresh-Clean-100ml/dp/B006EHXZPA
I can't seem to buy it anywhere though! Nowhere has stock of any of the range, except for the whitening version. I am against using whitening toothpastes so don't want this, any other version of it would do for me though.
So, firstly does anyone know if this is discontinued? I've googled but can't find any info.
Secondly, any alternatives? I've used Theramed before but don't really like it, it is nowhere near as good/refreshing. I can't see to find any other toothpaste in this form, so was hoping someone had a suggestion?
I'm really fussy about my toothpaste and any time I've used 'normal' toothpaste in a tube I've hated it
Many thanks.

Mostly they discontinue toothpastes when they become uneconomic to produce. The nearest to it is probably the oral b pro expert total care it's in a tube but is a gel and has that slight "grittiness" that the max fresh has. http://www.lloydspharmacy.com/en/oral-b-pro-expert-all-round-protection-clean-mint-75ml-124745%3Futm_source%3DGoogle%26utm_medium%3DProduct%26utm_campaign%3DProduct?gclid=CO24i5PPsroCFfHItAod32AAiw0

I was given a sample of the oralB pro expert by my dentist and I bought a tube of it in Lloyds pharmacy today, as it's on offer. I've just noticed something unusual on the label, it says it's only for people aged 12 years and older. I've never seen that on a toothpaste before?
Just thought I'd mention it, OP in case you've got kids who'll be using it0 -
If it has been discontinued it's probably worth looking around shops like Home Bargains, B&M and Pound shops, if they have it then you can stock up on as much as you can use."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0

Oralb pro expert has stannous fluoride in it, a different composition of fluoride which is what dentists apply to teeth to help heal decayed spots.
As far as I know it is the only toothpaste to have stannous fluoride and hence the warning to only use it over the age of twelve as swallowing too much of this whilst teeth are developing may mottle them.0 -
That's also my favourite toothpaste (texture in others makes me gag, no idea why!!) and I'm gutted it's no longer in Boots or Superdrug! Did, funnily enough find it in a pound shop the other day! Might be worth stocking up?!0

Thank for the recommendations. I will give the Oral B Pro-Expert a try.
I did coincidentally come across a product which was in the Colgate Max Fresh range, not a gel but not a toothpaste either, in a tall pump. It was quite gel-like, and I did quite like it but it was still not as good as the proper gel one. It was much better than any 'normal' toothpaste I've tried though.
So looks like I will be either using that, or the Oral B Pro-Expert. I have high hopes for that given the multiple recommendations!
Thanks everyone.0 -

Thanks everyone.
It's got quite a strong 'dentist-y' smell :rotfl: but I like it!
Hopefully it's doing my teeth some good.0 -

Hey boots_babe,
I found myself in the exact same situation - I've been using Max Fresh from the day it came out.
Apart from the Whitening version [which is rank] the only other stuff I've seen recently was the 1 Direction limited edition but it was minus the cooling crystals - not to mention the fact that I'm a 39 yr old bloke & felt a right t**t stood in the que waiting to buy it. :--)
However there is a place I discovered that is still selling the green/blue - I found this shop when I went home for Xmas.
I'm not going to type it here as I'm trying to get family to get me some whenever they get the chance to go into the shop and build up a little stock pile as the shop could run out at any time :--(
Pm me & I will give details. This way I know that whoever goes out their way to pm is/should be genuine.0 -
I know what you mean about the One Direction one lol!
I saw this in the supermarket a while after posting this thread, so I thought I'd grab a pile whilst I could.
Apart from feeling like the cashier must think me a massive fan(!), it was a big mistake as actually this one is really sweet and sugary, and not so minty. I think it's been made for children/teens hence the sugary taste.
So I now have a largish pile of these and I hate them. Was going to try and sell for 99p on eBay as I can't bring myself to use it!
Anyway, thank you so much for the offer, I will PM you now0 -

I didn't mind the taste of the 1D version, sure it wasn't anywhere as nice as the proper stuff but it was better than the toothpaste version of MF.
I hadn't tried the pump yet but that was going to be next on the list if I hadn't found a supply of the original.
You are correct about how far we will go to get what we want - or can't have :-) -- I also am in the same situation with my toothbrush - I've always used Aqua fresh with the tongue cleaner on the back & I can't get those anymore either :-(0
