My son has a new zip up sweat/fleece. 100% cotton, thin for summer evenings.
It now needs washing.
This is his 3rd this year,
1st one I washed with the zip done up on a 40, quick wash and full spin, dry over clothes horse
the 2nd I washed un zipped on a 40 quick spin. dry flat on clothes horse.
Each time the same thing happens, the zip is no longer flat, when he puts it on there is a bump in it,
starts from the high waist point goes out and then comes in at the botton. It looks like he has a football under it!!
Not a good look I understand for a young man out with friends or girlfriend.
As mothers are always right, I need to get back my 'mum knows best' authority!!!
Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

I just chuck mine in with everything else, possibly a 30 degree wash , but then i tumble dry as well.0

If this happens when you washed it according to the washing instruction, take it back to the shop. It's either because the jumper has shrunk slightly and the zip hasn't or the fabric or zip has been stretched when it was made.0

Definitely, take them all back, unless the washing instructions said to do something different.0

Never thought of taking them back:o , just assumed I was doing something wrong,
Yes I was following the washing instructions, but the label doesn't say if it needs to be zipped up or not, guess it does not make any difference.
Thanks for your help once again.0
