first of all, He informed his immediate manager that he had planned jury service,
second of all, he didnt PLAN to do extra work for his employer, his co worker, couldnt get too work, and ANOTHER manager told my husband that HE HAD TOO stay at work till tuesday. My husband also told this manager, that he had jury service for monday, and the manager told him, tough i need you here, i will write you a letter,

My husband was due home on monday gone, and due to adverse weather conditions there was no flying from where he works.

he has all intention of doing jury service, having deferred it once, informing jury service of his employment and rate of pay, they agreed to defer it, till it was his home leave.

He told his immediate manager, but it wasnt booked in anywhere at work as he works on a rota, and he was on rota to be off work, when jury service takes place. he works two wks on three wks off, and jury service was too take place the last two wks off, unfortunately, we didnt think he would have too book the time off as it was during his time off, it was taking place.
He doesn't have to book any time off

When you get called for Jury Service you take the papers to work and its up to them what they do.

my husband works away ap007, so we thought it was easier, for him to do jury service on his home leave,,, the jury service agreed with this, and he sent in a list of dates he was available and they gave him the following home leave.

I suppose we have been a bit naive in this, not been in this position before.

So he asked for special date and now he is not going to show up?

Like we have said no boss can stop him from going to jury service.

no he didnt ask for a special date,,,, he gave a list of a full years worth of dates of when he was to be home. The jury service reselected him for the following home leave.

My husband wants to do jury service, he wants to be home. It is a manager who is saying no!! not my husband.

All the best - and I hope when he can, he can tell you all the funny stories that usually get completely lost.
As for this dumb manager - my money is on the Clerk every time.

Is the manager who is saying No based in the UK? If not then perhaps he doesn't understand the demands of jury service - although ignorance is no excuse.

his manager was based in the uk, i think it was a case of the manager thinking he was above the law!!

Husband is on his way home now, so he will be fit for jury service monday morning
