Friday 25th Oct - What Small DFW Things Will You Be Doing Today??!

When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending. :money:
Morning
Friday at last - although this week has sped by! And payday as well, hurrah
DFW things for the day:
* checked banking
* shifted money into bill/savings accounts
* take note of mileage & submit claim this evening
* all meals from stores - salmon risotto tonight mmmm
* weighed myself & have lost 4lbs since last week :j
* wrap & return one dress, might return the other as well need to try on again and decide
* go through cc statement and work out what is from where
* hang up washing & do another load
*vacuum downstairs
* work hard!
Might go out for a few drinks tonight, fancy doing something, will speak to oh later.
Ok that's my lot and now I have to go! Have a great day everyone x

Morning all,
Today's small positive things:
*Heating still off. Rainy & dull earlier, but sun is trying now.
*Cleaned entire house using minimal products.
*Bed linen changed but not washing until cheap tariff kicks in.
*Do next week's meal plans.
*Write shopping list.
*See if we can combine 2 shops to make use of Sainsbury's £6 off voucher.
*Spotted that from this payday, there will be 5 shopping days until the next one. (Usually I don't notice this till Week 3 & haven't built an extra shop into the budget, so we go over what we'd intended to spend).
*Do some surveys.
*Clear all silly little jobs so I can devote tomorrow (payday) to doing big monthly budget, admin, Christmas budget planning, etc.
*Contact ebay seller to get combined postage on 2 items as ebay automatically charges double postage (probably no incentive to change now that they take a cut of p&p too....) Done. v helpful seller.
*Sew up Christmas Present no. 6 & add to present box.
*Hunt through yarn stash for some merino wool I think I've got to cast on pair of little socks for friend who is expecting a baby.
*Received another Debenhams voucher (£30) from Toluna Surveys. Got a city break coming up, so shall have some pence to spend. Yay!
Have a good Friday, everyone.
Cheers,

ziggy - There's actually blue sky here now, so hopefully it's sweeping up your way as I type & you won't be stuck with rain all day, Fingers crossed!2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0 -
Afternoon all.
So far today we've been to toddler group, had a free cup of tea and toast
Gave a handmade present to a friend to pass on to another friend who had her baby last night
Emptied and refilled the dishwasher - wont put on until after dinner as not full.
Swapped washing and cleaned the table ready for pizza we bought in yesterday. £1.50 Sainsbos basics YUM
Oh and found 5p on the floor walking to toddler group
This afternoon i wont get much done as im at school at 2.15 to watch/join in with the kids/teachers for an hour. Never heard of this before but just taking DD2 with me as DS will be a pain so he is staying at his nanas for the hour.
My little list -
Check FPCL
Check budget
Tidy kitchen sides and dining room and hoover
Prep spuds for dinner ( we have friends over tonight)
Bleach DD1 shirts for school
Weekend meal plan aiming to use what we have in.
Might make a start on Xmas related sewing depending when friends leave.
Thats it for me

Afternoon DFW-Jedis,
Having a lovely day.
The List:
Re-jigged budget.
OH got £100 compensation from the bank for a massive error.
PayDay. Planned to spend it wisely.
Ordered turbo whisk for £5 online instead of £10 at a recent craft fair.
Breakfast was last night's leftover curry.
With working nights my brain doesn't know whether it's day or night.
