50" TV for £850? What's so good about that that's caught your eye? Nice looking premium TV alright, with some money off, but you can get a different model with as good a picture cheaper I'll bet...

There's a couple of dealers on Ebay who have it cheaper but one has terrible feedback and the other is based in Italy albeit with good feedback.

As for Currys that tv was only at a higher price from July to August so I'm a bit dubious about the two hundred quid reduction.

Admittedly I haven't looked very deeply, but this model doesn't seem to be widely available. A merchant on Amazon has it for a ludicrous £1167 but apart from Ebay that's the only place I could find it.

What you could do is sign up to Camelcamelcamel and get them to track the Amazon price. They will display a graph showing price fluctuations over the last year or so and also any future changes. If you strike lucky you might be able to achieve a saving.

Only 3 inches smaller but also 3D and with a 5 year warranty from here.

Just a suggestion - that is not particularly cheap.

As for buying now or wait till after Christmas - how long is a piece of string? TVs will always be changing and going up/down in price.

We bought a Samsung plasma 3 years ago and are very happy with it. We are hoping it will last us until such time as the OLEDs are cheap enough (VERY thin and VERY light) or they bring out a holographic projector, though that may have to wait until after the OLED.

At the beginning of this year I looked at 40 inch TVs in the so called sales. There wasn't anything decent for much less than £500. 8 months later and the same TVs are around £300.

So you buy when it is at a price you are happy to pay, either now, or take a note of the model and track the price on a monthly basis.
