Options
I normally buy these and they are yummy! especially the sweet and sour one..

I was just wondering if it will be cheaper by making my own stir fry?

My mother vacuums up the YS stir fry packs in ASDA any time she goes there with me and as YS they can be around 19p. That would definitely be cheaper. My mother doesn't like Chinese food but she uses the chopped stir fry veg to make soup.

I love stir fries but I have to make my own as I am allergic to bean sprouts, and I substitute it with white cabbage, it is cheaper to make, but if you are preparing for one person, it is cheaper to buy ready made.

    I make my own basic general-purpose stir-fry sauce ...

    STIR FRY SAUCE

    Serves 2

    INGREDIENTS

½ a bunch of spring onions
1cm (½ inch) piece of fresh ginger
    1 tablespoon of corn flour
    2 teaspoons of water
    1 tablespoon of oil
¼ of a teaspoon of ground black pepper
    1 teaspoon of salt
    1 tablespoon of sesame oil
2 tablespoons of dark soy sauce
    1 teaspoon of sugar

    METHOD

Wash the spring onions, cut off the root ends and leaves, peel off and discard any dried up or slimy outer leaves, then chop them into thin slices. Peel the ginger and chop it into tiny pieces.

Put the corn flour into a cup. Add the water a teaspoon at a time. Stir each time until it has dissolved.

Put the pepper, salt, sesame oil, soy sauce and sugar into another cup. Mix thoroughly

Put the oil into a frying pan or wok on a medium heat. Add the ginger and spring onion. Fry for 1 minute. Stir frequently to stop them sticking.

Add the pepper, salt, sesame oil, soy sauce and sugar mixture. Put the meat back in. Add the corn flour mixture. Fry for 3 minutes until the sauce thickens, Stir frequently to stop it sticking.

    ADDITIONS & ALTERNATIVES

Add ½ a tablespoon of rice wine or dry sherry.

... but also use ready-made "special" ones, like black bean, hoisin, lemon, etc.
If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5? :)
