UKPC and DR+

I received a PCN on August 3 for "leaving the site" of Aldi's free parking, despite making a purchase in their store.
Received the NTK which I ignored, and then sent a letter to UKPC to the effect of "show me your proof of my infringement, and if you can do that, then show me the proof that you have obtained this proof legally" - I attached the payment slip and suggested to them that they aren't going to extort any money out of me.
I then sent a letter explaining the situation to Aldi Customer services.
A few days later I got the first DRP letter and a few days after that, really irked about what I considered to be harassment, I popped back down to Aldi to take some photographs of the car parking monkey and his vehicle and return the favour, so to speak.
I then received a letter dated Oct 11 from UKPC stating that as a gesture of goodwill the Parking charge had been cancelled and the matter concluded.
This evening(Oct 24) I received a Notice of Intended court Action from the DRP muppets -
How should I best respond to this?
Who do I contact to complain about this harassment - the BPA?
Do I just ignore it and let them be stupid enough to try and take me to court?

These companies are an absolute disgrace and have been allowed to carry on their bullyboy tactics unhindered - I am not going to stand for it but just don't know the best way to proceed - any advice would be welcome.

Thanks

You can ignore the DRP threat as you have been advised that the charge has been cancelled.

You can have some fun with them, though. Reply (in their envelope unstamped, returned to their address), saying that you have it on good authority that you do not need to pay this charge and you will not.

Leave it at that. They are not permitted to take you to court as they are not party to any contravention and have no claim.

Send them an email saying the parking charge has been cancelled, enclose a copy of your letter. Inform them that if they contact you again except to confirming that the matter has been dropped, you will make complaints to the oft and will consider suing them for harassment
When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

  • Thanks Guys Dad :T:T- I will do that.
Should I send something to UKPC too, or do you think that they advised DR+ of their decision and DR+ went ahead with their second letter regardless?
It is rather tempting to go down to Aldi again and blow some more smoke up the parking monkey's a**e - he didn't appear to like it too much last time:D:D:D.

I expect DRP have just issued the usual computer template letters and this one was already on the conveyor belt! I would just respond to DRP, have fun, be rude to them if you like!

And re the bit in bold - go on, you know you want to! :T
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

:T:T Thanks Stroma - I was thinking of something along those lines - I am just so damned angry that they seem to be able to get away with the things they do.

Stroma's post is the proper one, I concede.

But I declare an interest, as they say. I keep getting letters from Wescott Debt Recovery relating to some foreign sounding people who have never lived at my address, and, despite informing Wescott of the fact and where I believe they actually live, they keep sending me these debt letters.

So, I have now started wasting their time too and get a slight amount of revenge. I recommend it to others.

    Am I that transparent:rotfl::rotfl:?
These guys are very easy to deal with, especially if you are bigger than them!!
Once he realised I wasn't going to flatten him, he got a bit bolder, but he was rather subdued initially:)
Not very sophisticated I know, but the response was tailored to the level of the audience it was intended for:):)
  • Thanks for all your advice - I have sent off a letter as follows :

    "Ref No ******
    To Whom It May Concern

As you are no doubt well aware, the parking charge in question was cancelled by UKPC, as per the letter attached.
This was dated 11 October 2013, yet you then go ahead and issue a “Notice of Intended Court Action” dated 21 October 2013.

Are you seriously expecting me to believe that you were not made aware of the cancellation of this charge before issuing your letter?
As a result of your conduct in this matter, I am raising a complaint with the Office Of Fair Trading.

Furthermore, I demand a full and unreserved apology in writing from you, to be received by me no later than 04 November 2013 – should you fail to comply with this request I will instigate a charge with the police, ofharassment, and attempted extortion, against your company, naming Anne Stone(if she actually exists) as a co-respondent."
