Have I paid too much tax?

I started a job in the middle of August. So far I have been paid £519.96 for August, and £938.83 for September and October. My first two pay slips had no deductions, however this month has deductions of £114.00 for PAYE tax and £85 for NI. My tax code is 944L wk1/mth1. Are these deductions correct?

Also, minimum wage went up in October, so I should have been paid more this month, correct?

These figures do not appear to make a lot of sense, can you give the full details that appear on all three payslips? Also what were you doing before this job, did you hand in a P45 if so full details of that if you can?

All the information on the pay slips I've already given, there doesn't seem to be any other relevant information on them.

Before I started the job I was unemployed but I handed in my P45 from my previous job.

Can you give the P45 details also what is the information on the payslips that you feel is not relevant? What I am looking for is anything relating to either gross to date, tax to date, previous gross or previous tax?Is the tax code the same on all payslips?
Failing that all I can suggest is that you ask your payroll dept for an explanation.

There should be information such as gross taxable pay to date and gross tax to date. Also what tax code was on each payslip?

On a payment of £938.83 and a 944L Mth1 code, tax should be £30.43 and NI £35.18 so the figures make no sense so far.

What was the date on the P45?

The gross taxable is £2397.65 and the total tax to date is what has been deducted for this month. the tax code is the same on all slips.

I don't seem to have my copy of the P45 to hand. Assuming you mean leaving date it would be around November of last year.

Can you give the gross taxable and gross tax on each of the separate payslips because so far it doesn't make sense.

A P45 from last tax year would have no relevance to this tax year.

Did you claim JSA and if so what did you do with the P45 from them?

Gross taxable is equal to my salary so far for each of the pay slips, and gross tax is nothing until this month's deductions.

    I did not claim JSA.

What does your payslip look like?
Does it appear to be computer generated or is it hand-written or typed?

Then I am baffled as JEM16 says tax and NI for payslips 2 and 3 should be the same and payslip 1 should have no tax or NI.
I can only suggest asking the payroll dept for an explanation.
