Very much depends on which uni you're at.
I've just gone back as a mature student (again) and I've noticed the school of law especially-but the university as a whole is huge on employability skills (the university rates really high in the graduate employment tables in the south east) so looking at what they are telling us (in general I'm not studying law but I know they are saying the same kind of stuff to the law students.) get your feet wet- go for internships , join the uni law society, volunteer at the uni's law clinic if they have one expose yourself to lots of different types of law areas and stop worrying. It is very early days and lots of students go through the "what the heck have I done" phase at this point in their first year.

We have a job week coming up -lots of talks by visiting companies , advice- please don't think these are only for third years -they are for all students-go see what's happening at them. All universties have them.
I do find it a bit odd if you're at a uni with a highly ranked law school that hardly anyone goes into law though TBH but then if you're not sure where you want to end up yet that isn't a bad thing.

I'm amazed by just how many opportunities the uni offers (for example even as a first year I'm getting help setting up a part-time business I want to start-I will have access to business advice - technical advise and maybe even a bit of funding) but I'm equally amazed how many students are oblivious this exists despite it having prominence on the student portal LOL.
