Hi,
I'm interested to switch to a different bank or building society. I've got Barclays i'm looking for an account with free costs and if its possible with not charge you for not paying bills like Barclays charges 8 pounds.
Thanks,
Javier.

What kind of bills and where are you paying them to?
If you are not from the UK and want to pay bills abroad then £8 is not bad for an International transfer from a bank.
Some banks charge more.
I would avoid building societies if this is the case as they have no expertise in international transfers.0 -
£8 is the "Returned Transaction Fee" that Barclays charge for bounced DDs.
I think the bank/BS that doesn't charge for this doesn't exist.
Halifax offer "Control" for overdrafts that costs £10p.m., but I think it's daft to pay for this and is easier to learn budgeting and to DIY for free. Otherwise just cancel all DDs and pay by other means.0 -
Yes, that's ok.
And the thing its What is the most ethical company?
The best I can offer for my day-to-day finances and offer you more facilities, Have a good reputation and has not been on the verge of bankruptcy or investigated for fraud or embezzlement of money.0 -
How do you define "most ethical company"?0

I think it would be a company that cared so much for small customers as large, taking into account savings and help you when you need it.0

Forget that banks care for or help customers. You need to look after yourself. You can't expect some cosy relationship with a bank - - it's all completely unemotional business.
All banks/BSs regulated in the UK are safe to do business with. Each of them has their own terms and conditions, interest rates, charges and fees. You need to select the one that suits your needs best, and hope they will accept you as a customer. Your CRA files need to be clean to get current accounts, and you should be on the electoral roll.
