When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending. :money:

Morning campers :D half way through the working week already :j busy day today so that'll speed past as well!

Things to do today:

* [STRIKE]checked banking[/STRIKE] - no changes. Payday Friday :j
* should be a NSD
* hang up washing
* change Euros back to £s
* take note of mileage
*[STRIKE] freeze soup - must do this this morning[/STRIKE]
* all meals from stores
* 2 portions of "surprise" from the freezer for dinner tonight as I won't be in until around 9.30
* take mobile phones & sell them tonight
* print off Autoaid claim form
* print off work eye test form & get boss to sign
* heating off - quite mild here at the moment :)
*[STRIKE] read Martin's email
[/STRIKE]
That's all I can think of. Hope you all have a fabulous & speedy day!

    Morning Penny savers,
    Today's very small list of very small things:
    *Shared bathwater.
    *Washed hair & let it dry naturally....not sure ageing rock chick look doing me any favours....
    *No heating on. It just isn't cold enough here, yet.
    *Ran heated airer overnight on Economy 7 tariff & switched off 2 mins before it was due to switch over to Evil Day Tariff. Everything pretty much dry. Shouldn't need to run it again this week.
    *Meals as per meal plans - home made pizza & salad from the garden. Make rolls from rest of the dough for rest of week's packed lunches.
    *Round up more windfall pears.......how many more can there BE up that tree? It wasn't really even a very big crop compared to some previous years.
    *Made 3 jars of spiced pickled pears. V nice with cold turkey so will pop away in the pantry for Christmas.
    *Post ebay parcels.
    *Top up worm composter with veggie peelings, etc. As it isn't cold yet, the worms are still very active, so am carrying on putting in scraps as it keeps the free plant food & compost coming.
    *Continue knitting Christmas Present no. 6.
    *mr f on half day today, so going to make a nice lunch, put kettle on then have a bit of a planning meeting to check everything is on calendar......doesn't sound particularly money-saving, but we really find that being very organised is the key to being able to plan properly & that helps both the budgeting & the healthy eating.
    *Think of something cheap but funky to make to take to friends who have invited us over for meal on Hallowe'en night. Seen fab spider cupcakes, but am arachnaphobic, & don't think I can make them! I'd have to leave the legs off & they'd end up being scary ameobas instead.
    Have a good day, everyone....

    Hi all,

    Been productive so far. Was up at 4.50am (urgh, i wont bore you with the details but it wasnt planned!). Managed to get a wash load done and pay a bill before 6am and then started sewing DD1 alien outfit for school tomorrow. Its nearly done!

    Tidied some bits in the bedroom once back from DS' hospital appointment. Got DD2 to sleep so now having a brew before i tackle the following:-

    2 more wash loads on 30c quick wash - will hang one on airer other in tumble dryer DONE
    Empty bins - urgh
    Fill DD2 milk powders and see if we need more before payday
    Hoover downstairs DONE
    Empty and re fill dishwasher (will run it tonight when its full) DONE
    Wipe sides and table with water from kettle
    Tidy toys away DONE
    Take dry washing up to be put away later DONE
    Quick wipe of bathroom with a damp cloth
    Mop floors with kettle water
    Maybe try and get more of alien outfit done (depedant on kids playing nicely)
    Check FPCL - DONE
    Check Ebay - DONE
    Check Banks/Budget - DONE
    Sort out sewing room/desk as best i can in 15 mins
    Seeing Mum at 4 so will grab a pint of milk on way back since we are low.
    L & D from stores (Chicken curry tonight) Oh i need Naan bread actually. - will get same time as milk.

    Hopefully a quiet and easy evening sewing. Got 3 trousers to take up, a new zip to put in another (if do able), alien to finish, dress to get interfacing in before college tomorrow and a few other bits, so a make do and mend session lol.

    Thats it for me, going to pop on some music and get on top of this list!!

    Josie - Thanks for the link. That cake is so clever! Even being a fan of 'Bake-off' & an experienced cake-maker, I couldn't at first see how you could get a chocolate bat running right through a loaf cake, but I get it now, having read the instructions, and, I'm quite tempted to make one.

  • Evening all,

    Today is a great day to save :D. Lets see...

    1. Cooked all food from scratch, had an amazing veggie korma for lunch, tonight going to have raspberry coconut jelly with pineapple, yum

    2. Started to learn to play the guitar. Got a cheap second hand one with a beginners book and am finding out that my fingers need some roughing up!

    3. Spent time with the pooch, having a beautiful walk out in the sun.

    4. Got my grocery list sorted down to the penny. All I have to do now is make sure I don't double up on the food - gonna get MrMaths to help.

    5. Used lemon juice on my face and hair as a cleanser, works wonderfully and is pretty cheap. Thinking of buying a dwarf lemon tree to make it even cheaper.

    6. Worked on my website, getting it ready for unveiling.

    7. Caught up with friends/relatives on facebook.

    8. Got no heating on, but snug under the covers.

    9. Being here and keeping my motivation up to save, save, save. This site is great, it really keeps my head in the game.

    10. Going to look for enrichment activities for the pooch later on.

    11. Also going to look up more info on lucid dreaming.

    My day has been full, fun, challenging and rich and it hasn't cost me a penny. Life is good. :D
    Debt as of March 2018, £794 rent arrears £4273.7 debt, £900.70 in pay day loans, total £5968.40 :eek:. Total debt today £5968.40
