I have some leather boots that the sole is coming away from the rest but otherwise are sound. I've tried the only glue I have (a craft glue ) which didn't work - which is the best glue to buy?
thanks!
thanks!

thanks! My go-to product for years was Evo-Stik all purpose adhesive in the tall red can, but have been cruising their site just now and they don't seem to have it. Prolly be banned as was very solvent-y.
This one is usable for leather shoes: http://www.bostik.co.uk/diy/product/evo-stik/Serious-Glue/16
I haven't personally used this Serious Glue but I have been very favourably impressed over the years by the other Evo Stik products I've tried. No affiliation, just sayin'. HTHEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Mine are currently held together with Gorilla Glue. It's not infallible, as I've had to repeat the process once in the past year, but it's pretty much done the trick. Once glued, I leave mine tied up in elastic bands overnight to let it set.0

thanks both - will investigate both (and use elastic bands

I found Shoo Goo on amazon. It's not cheap though. The solvents smell like the old style Evo Stik solvent based wood glue.
I came across this stuff when I was on an American summer camp thing back in the 90s.
When the soles came away from a pair of charity shop finds, this stuff was amazing. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
you need a contact adhesive
where you coat both sides - keep them away from each other whilst the glue surface dries
then you push them together and they stick
this is what "shoemenders" use
evostick is a form of contact adhesive
but there are loads of other brandsFight Back - Be Happy0 -
I repaired my work boots with dow corning lead and gutter sealant its in the mastic gun type applicator available at most builders yards about £4 and its great flexible and waterproof sets like rubber, did mine 6 months ago never leaked or come apart.
ps don't get lead and gutter mastic it never goes hard.
or cant verify other brands. I used dow corning. google it 1st.
get them clean and dry 1st hold firmly together when stuff is in and leave on boiler as long as poss 24-48 hrs,
hope that helps
