Try and remember its just a conversation, to discover if you can do the job, if you fit into the team and will you enjoy the role and for you to find out more about the role, the culture and if the organisations goals fit yours.

I hope you do learn how to relax using some of the techniques mentioned as its so much easier to interview a relaxed candidate and you will come across so much better.

You never ask in the interview about the ££

1 - know before you go

    or

2 - wait for the 2nd interview or offer

And to be honest its not a real question
When I used to be involved in recruiting sales people, anybody that didn't want to know about the money would not have made it to a second interview.

Listen to your favourite Piece of music - may be have a dance. Don't know if you watched Ally McBeal, but the Biscuit always danced to "my first, my last, my everything" to give him confidence and put him in the right frame of mind. It fills your body with Happy endomorphins (sp?) and makes you feel good. Have something to eat / drink too (not garlic bread with garlic sauce with large bits of parsley in obviously) so you blood sugars are up and even.
I always have my favourite piece of music in the car or on headphones before I Go in, and have been known to dance in my car.

I used to get nervous before hand, until I started interviewing people myself.

The job of the person asking you the questions, isnt to terrify you or try to catch you out. Unless they work in HR, they generally want to find a suitable person asap and get back to their day job. Interviewing takes up time. So they WANT you to get it right.

Think of it more as a conversation. You can definitely ask questions, Ive always asked questions in interviews - just don't interrogate them!

    Really? Why would that be?

Surely you would know before you attend the interviews?

I have always known the salary before or I do not attend the interview.

Eat and drink something just before you go in. - say 30 mins before. It will calm you down. The longer it is since you've eaten, the more your nerves take hold.

Also to be honest falko, you don't stand much chance of getting the job anyway. There are always better qualified people for it - they're almost certainly going to tell you to take a hike. Thats what I try to convince myself of and it usually works too. I've only ever had 2 interviews where the nerves got to me and both times I'd failed to convince myself I stood no chance. If you look at the interview as a failure, you don't get your hopes up as much and consequently you don't put yourself under quite as much pressure.
  • Is rescue remedy any good? I have alot of social anxiety and wonder if it would help?

What therapeutic steps are you taking to manage your social anxiety which seems to be the cornerstone of your interview problems.

The job did not have the salary listed hence why I asked, He said he would reveal this at the second interview, although I would say after the performance I put on yesterday I'll not have to worry.
