Asking on behalf of somebody else (they are seriously ill, and might not make it :()

Can they have their benefits paid into a nationwide cashbuilder account ?

The nationwide cashbuilder account (with a purple card) is a savings account.

Can benefit DWP payments be paid into this cashbuilder account ?
(as it is a savings account) ?

do you have this arrangement?

(it helps if you speak from experience, so It would be nice to hear from anybody receiving their benefits into it)
