We have decided we are giving up smoking :j :j :j - so in true MSE style does anyone know where we can buy patches on offer (either BOGOFS or buy one get one half price) please. Our town has most stores so any info. would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I bought mine off EBAY dead cheap - I think they worked out at about £5.00 a 7 day pack.Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01
Taking part in Sealed Pot No.819/2011
Only essentials on Ebay/Amazon0 -
You can get them on prescription, handy if you have pre-payment, medical excepmtion or are over 60 or even under 18 in full time education.0

First of all, good luck with the stopping smoking - I'm a non smoker and have never started, but know from friends who have how hard it is.
If you can get hold of the Tesco Quit packs (often available in the petrol stations) there is money off vouchers in those which might be of help to you and you can get triple clubcard points with your purchases too via a coupon in the same leaflet to be scanned at certain dates.
The vouchers are as follows:-
£1 off Nivotinell Gum 24's (fruit or mint 2 or 4mg)
£2 off nicotinell Lozenge 36's (1 or 2mg)
Both coupons valid until 30.09.07 and I'm not sure if they can be used in conjuntion with the £2 off healthcare products in the same leaflet.
If you or anyone would like them let me know as I have no need for them.0 -
I'm not sure if I saw them on promotion at Lloyds chemists recently.
Sorry I didn't take alot of notice, I gave up several years ago! Good luck anyway, just make sure you're doing it because you want to and not becuse you feel you've got to - you're doomed to fail otherwise, sorry but 25 years experience of smoking taught me that.0 -
Well done on quitting

You may want to have a look at this thread : http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=38742
I waffled on lots in that thread when I first packed in, I felt it helped me to talk to others.
Make sure you change your routine. Your head tells you that you light up on a morning with that first cuppa (if thats your normal routine) so instead get up, have a large glass of water and do something totally different to what you'd normally do.
I only needed one patch to get me over that initial 24 hrs, once I managed a full day without a ciggy i knew I was almost there. i just used to say to myself NO, you dont want a ciggy cos you dont smoke no more
I quit after many years of being a smoker and i managed, so good luck and i hope you do well :T0 -
When the law changes about smoking in enclosed public places there will probably be lots of offers, so only buy what you really need for now0

What happens when you are addicted to the patches? OH has been using patches for about 2 years which is why I was interested to read this thread.0

1)Join an NHS stop smoking group, cheaper NRT!
2)Look in your local Wilkinsons!0 -
Thanks everyone - one day in and we're doing ok.... (so far)
For anyone who is looking Tesco are selling two packs for £20 so we've started with them.
Might join a stop smoking group if I can. I will also see if my doctor will write out a prescription without having to go to meetings etc. I'll keep trying anyway. I'm off to bed now and I get a whole new patch tomorrow!!!:T:rotfl: :rotfl:

If you live in Merseyside you can join Fag ends.... you have a weekly meeting, and all smoking cessation aids are free... whether you chose patches, gum, inhaltor etc etc.
If you live elsewhere it is worth checking if your community has a similar scheme.0
